CCTV technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair video surveillance systems, including cameras, DVR/NVR recorders, and cabling. They configure network settings, perform routine inspections, and ensure systems operate effectively for security. This role typically requires technical expertise in electronics, networking, and physical installation skills. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Installation & Setup: Mounting and positioning cameras, running cables, and connecting power sources.
  • System Configuration: Setting up DVRs/NVRs, configuring IP addresses, and integrating software for monitoring.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine inspections to ensure equipment functionality, upgrading systems, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Technical Support: Assisting clients with operating the surveillance systems and providing guidance.
  • Documentation: Maintaining records of installations, repairs, and service activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and regulations. 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of CCTV technology, analog/digital systems, and networking protocols.
  • Physical Ability: Capability to stand, walk, climb, and work in extreme temperatures.
  • Tools Proficiency: Skilled in using tools for wiring, drilling, and testing electrical circuits.
  • Experience: Generally requires 1–2 years of hands-on experience in electronic security or related fields.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training in electronics or IT preferred. 
Work Environment
Technicians may work in various indoor and outdoor locations for residential or commercial clients, often needing to travel between sites.
