The HVDC Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the precommissioning, commissioning, testing, and energization of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission systems, including converter stations, DC yards, AC switchyards, control & protection systems, and associated auxiliaries.
Perform cold and hot commissioning of HVDC systems
Commission major HVDC equipment:
Thyristor / IGBT valves, Converter transformers, Smoothing reactors, Harmonic filters, DC yard equipment
Conduct functional testing of:
Control & protection systems, Pole control, station control, and redundancy systems, Interlocks, alarms, and sequences
Execute high voltage tests, energization, and system runups
HVDC control systems (Master control, Pole control)
Protection schemes (DC line protection, converter protection, backup protection)
Communication links (teleprotection, fiber, redundancy checks)
