Job Summary
The Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, servicing, preventive maintenance, and testing of commercial kitchen equipment used in restaurants, QSRs, bakeries, cafés, hotels, and central kitchens.
The role requires strong hands-on expertise in gas-operated cooking equipment, including gas fryers, burners, grills, ovens, hot holding equipment, and related electrical and mechanical systems. The technician will ensure equipment reliability, operational safety, and minimum downtime across kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Repair & Maintenance
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing as per manufacturer recommendations.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair requirements.
• Identify equipment faults and carry out necessary corrective actions.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, and gas-related repairs.

Gas Equipment Troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot and repair gas-operated kitchen equipment.
• Diagnose faults related to:
o Gas valves
o Ignition systems
o Burners
o Thermostats
o Heating elements
o Temperature controls
o Pilot systems
• Ensure safe and proper operation of gas systems following applicable safety procedures.
Installation & Testing
• Install and test commercial kitchen equipment following repair, replacement, or installation.
• Assist with commissioning of newly installed kitchen equipment.
• Test equipment functionality and confirm operational safety before handover.
• Verify that repaired equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications.
Technical Support & Reporting
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment records.
• Document breakdowns, repairs, replacement parts, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend suitable corrective measures.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers and external service providers when required.
• Assist in monitoring spare parts, tools, and maintenance requirements.
Safety & Compliance
• Follow all electrical, mechanical, and gas safety procedures during installation, servicing, and repair activities.
• Ensure equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and applicable safety standards.
• Immediately report major technical, electrical, gas, or safety-related concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow company HSE procedures at all times.
Required Experience
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment.
• Strong practical experience with gas-operated commercial kitchen equipment is mandatory.
• Experience working in restaurant chains, QSRs, cafés, bakeries, hotels, or central kitchens is preferred.
• Experience with both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of commercial kitchen equipment.
• Previous experience handling breakdown maintenance and preventive maintenance is required.
Preferred Equipment Experience
Candidates with experience repairing and maintaining the following brands/equipment will be preferred:

Minimum Qualifications
Diploma, Certificate, or Technical Training in any of the following:
